Australian Curriculum
Understand that verbs represent different processes, for example doing, thinking, saying, and relating and that these processes are anchored in time through tense (ACELA1482)

Understand how ideas can be expanded and sharpened through careful choice of verbs, elaborated tenses and a range of adverb groups/phrases (ACELA1523)

Common Core Aligned
Form and use the simple (e.g., I walked; I walk; I will walk) verb tenses
Form and use the progressive (e.g., I was walking; I am walking; I will be walking) verb tenses.
Form and use the perfect (e.g., I had walked; I have walked; I will have walked) verb tenses.
Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

New Zealand Curriculum
2iii: Using language and a simple text structure that are appropriate for the purpose, e.g., an orientation, sequenced events described in the past tense, and linking words to show sequence (for a recount).
